Dallas, Texas
Car shipping in Dallas follows the headquarters north. It runs up the Tollway to Plano, Frisco, and the towns beyond them.
Ship Guy is a licensed auto transport broker. We book vetted carriers across Dallas and the northern suburbs, and we do not own the trucks.
Companies move their headquarters here by the dozen. Their people arrive from California and the coasts every week. Most land in a master-planned community up the Tollway.
This page covers that corridor and the tollway grid a carrier pays to use. It also covers the hail and ice seasons and the old neighborhoods where a trailer cannot stop.
Most pickups happen within 1 to 3 days. More carriers base in the metroplex than anywhere in Texas.
Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City are same-day lanes. Denver and Atlanta run two days. California takes three.
Spring hail can dent a car sitting outside for pickup. If a storm is forecast, we move the window or suggest enclosed for a car you care about.
The Corridor
The Dallas North Tollway is the spine of the fastest-growing corporate corridor in America.
Automakers, banks, insurers, and brokerages have moved headquarters to Plano, Frisco, and Westlake. Their employees follow on start dates from California, Chicago, and the East Coast.
Most land in a planned community in Frisco, Prosper, McKinney, or Celina. Those neighborhoods have homeowners associations, and many have a gate.
Share the community name and gate code as you book. Timing the delivery to a closing date is the most common Dallas request.
If a company is reimbursing the shipment, we supply what its paperwork needs. See the state-to-state page for the interstate side.
The Grid
Dallas runs on tollways, and a carrier pays to use them.
The Dallas North Tollway, the Bush Turnpike, and the Sam Rayburn Tollway carry most of the northern suburbs. Those fees are included in every quote.
Interstate 35E, 30, 20, and 45 meet downtown at the Mixmaster. The High Five interchange stacks Central Expressway over the LBJ Freeway five levels high.
Both interchanges jam from early morning through the evening. Carriers time city pickups for the gaps and use the loop and the tollways to get around.
DFW Airport sits between Dallas and Fort Worth, and Love Field is minutes from downtown. Fly-and-ship works from either one.

*2026 estimates, running sedan, open trailer. SUVs and pickups add roughly 10 to 25 percent, enclosed more. Tollway fees are included, and carrier availability on your dates sets the final figure.
The Texas Triangle lanes are busy and cheap. Interstate 35 in both directions and Interstate 45 to Houston carry carriers all day.
The California lane is the big inbound story, and volume keeps it competitive despite the distance. Other variables are spelled out in the cost guide.
Seasons
North Texas weather swings hard, and each swing touches car shipping differently.
Spring brings hail, sometimes the size of baseballs. A car waiting outside for pickup can be dented in minutes. Dealers hold hail sales for a reason.
If a storm is forecast on your pickup day, we shift the window. For a collector car, enclosed transport keeps it covered on the trailer.
Winter ice arrives a few times a season and shuts the tollways for a morning or a day. Carriers wait it out rather than risk a loaded trailer on an icy overpass.
Summer runs past 100 degrees for weeks. Drivers load early, and the process otherwise does not change.
Access
Inside the loop, a few neighborhoods were built for a smaller car and a slower era.
Highland Park and University Park have tight streets and strict rules about commercial trucks. Lakewood and the M Streets have low trees and narrow blocks.
Uptown and downtown are full of towers with parking garages. For all of those, the driver meets you on a wide road or in a large lot.
The lots near the fairgrounds, the big centers along Central Expressway, and the tollway shopping districts all work. Name your neighborhood and we will name the lot.
Plano, Frisco, Richardson, and the suburbs are wide grids where the truck reaches the curb, gate permitting.
Who Ships Here
Beyond the headquarters, three more groups keep Dallas carriers busy.
Southern Methodist, the University of Texas at Dallas, and North Texas all bring cars in each August. They head home each May.
The metroplex has one of the largest dealer networks in the country. Dealer transfers, auction purchases, and online sales ship every day.
Households leaving California for Texas make the Los Angeles and Bay Area lanes the busiest inbound routes. Most ship one car and drive the other.
Your Options
Open transport is the everyday choice, and the Texas Triangle runs on it.
Enclosed transport keeps a car covered against hail, ice, and grit. Preston Hollow and the Park Cities keep enclosed carriers busy with collector cars.
A commuter car travels open without concern outside hail season. Our open and enclosed pages set out both options.
The Basics
The whole thing is a price, a handoff, and an arrival.
When you accept the price, a carrier is scheduled. The driver notes the car’s condition on a Bill of Lading at the handoff, and you sign it. That form is your checklist when the car arrives.
The how it works and preparation guides go step by step.
Why Ship Guy
We watch the hail forecast and know which gate codes to ask for.
Ship Guy holds active FMCSA brokerage authority and a $75,000 surety bond, both of which you can verify.
A single coordinator stays on your shipment from quote to delivery. That contact arranges open, enclosed, or expedited service. The full range is on the services page.

Dallas FAQ
Yes, headquarters moves to Plano, Frisco, and Westlake make corporate relocations a large part of our work. Employees arrive from California, Chicago, and the East Coast on start dates. The pickup gets planned around your first day. If a company is reimbursing the shipment, we supply what its paperwork needs. Open, enclosed, and expedited are all on the menu here.
They are part of the quote already. Carriers pay the Dallas North Tollway, the Bush Turnpike, and the Sam Rayburn Tollway and price accordingly. There is no separate charge. Routes that stay on the interstates and the loop do not add anything.
We shift the window. Spring hail can dent a car waiting outside in minutes. For a collector car, enclosed transport keeps it covered on the trailer. Winter ice works the same way, with carriers waiting out a frozen morning rather than risking an overpass. We reach out as soon as the forecast changes the plan.
It depends on the HOA. Some let a full-size truck in with a code, and some keep trucks off interior streets entirely. When the truck cannot enter, you meet the driver at the gate or a lot nearby. Share the community name and gate code as you book. Access is confirmed before dispatch.
Usually nine hundred to twelve hundred fifty dollars for a sedan on an open trailer. The route runs Interstate 10 and 20, about fourteen hundred miles. The lane is busy enough that pricing stays competitive despite the distance. Larger vehicles push the price up 10 to 25 percent. Price it with your dates and see.
Usually not the narrow blocks, and the Park Cities are strict about commercial trucks. The driver meets you on a wide road or at a big lot close by. It is minutes from your house. Plano, Richardson, and the suburbs allow curbside, gate permitting.
Yes, fly-and-ship works from either airport. We set delivery for the days after you land, at your address or a lot nearby. An adult greets the driver and signs. Give us the flight date and we schedule around it.
Yes, student cars ship every August and head home each May. The Park Cities are tight, so the SMU handoff happens at a lot nearby. Richardson and Denton allow curbside. An adult puts a signature on the paperwork. Both months get busy, so lock in a date early.
Yes, cars that do not run ship out of Dallas every day. A carrier with a winch handles the loading, and the extra time adds a fee. Can it roll, steer, and brake? Tell us which. That determines the truck.
Hand us the pickup and delivery addresses. Then the car’s year, make, and model. Confirm it runs and rolls, or tell us it does not. Choose open or enclosed and share your date range. That is all an accurate Dallas quote takes. Clear inputs, firm number.
