Fort Worth, Texas

Car shipping where the West begins and the freight never stops

Car shipping in Fort Worth benefits from something Dallas does not have. The biggest logistics hub in the Southwest sits inside the city limits.

Ship Guy is a licensed auto transport broker. We book vetted carriers across Fort Worth and Tarrant County, and we do not own the trucks.

Alliance, on the north side, is an inland port. It has its own airport, a rail yard, and thousands of trucks. Car carriers base there because everything else does.

This page covers that advantage, the reserve base, and the fighter plant. It also covers the Stock Show weeks, the Stockyards, and the ranch roads west of town.

Fort Worth at a glance

Most pickups happen within 1 to 2 days. Carriers staging at Alliance are a short drive from anywhere in the city.

Oklahoma City, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio are same-day lanes. Denver runs two days. Phoenix takes three.

The Stock Show runs more than three weeks every January and February. If you live near the Cultural District, tell us your dates.

The Hub

Alliance, the Railroad, and Why Carriers Base Here

Fort Worth is a freight town first, and car carriers are part of the freight.

Alliance stretches along Interstate 35W north of the city. It holds a cargo airport, an intermodal rail yard, and warehouse after warehouse. Trucking companies cluster around it.

The railroad that built the city still has its headquarters here. Between the rail yard and the warehouses, more trucks start here than in cities twice the size.

A carrier staging at Alliance can be anywhere in Tarrant County in thirty minutes. That is why pickups schedule fast and short lanes price low.

Interstate 35W, 30, 20, and the 820 loop tie it together. The Chisholm Trail Parkway is tolled, and the fee is built into the quote.

Six cities sit within a same-day drive, and Interstate 35W carries four of them. West Texas lanes on Interstate 20 and US 287 are steadier from here than from Dallas.

Denver and Amarillo ride US 287 straight out of town. Vehicle size, condition, and the rest are in the cost guide.

Military & Aerospace

The Reserve Base, the Fighter Plant, and the Helicopter Plant

The west side of Fort Worth is an aerospace and military district in its own right.

The joint reserve base sits on the old Carswell field along the lake. Navy, Marine, and Air Force reservists rotate through on orders, and housing is gated.

The fighter plant next door is one of the largest employers in the region. The helicopter plant east of the city is another. Both relocate engineers on program schedules.

The airline headquartered near the airport moves crews and staff constantly. Corporate packages usually cover a vehicle, and we supply the documentation.

Ship Guy is an independent broker with no military ties. See our military page for PCS details.

Stock Show

The Stock Show, the Stockyards, and the Speedway

Fort Worth keeps a calendar that no other Texas city has.

The Stock Show and Rodeo runs more than three weeks each January and February. It fills the Will Rogers grounds in the Cultural District. Traffic on the west side doubles for the duration.

The Stockyards are brick streets with a cattle drive down the middle twice a day. A trailer does not belong there, so the handoff happens on the main roads nearby.

The speedway north of the city hosts major race weekends that fill Interstate 35W. For addresses near the track, we schedule around them.

For the Cultural District and the near west side, we plan Stock Show pickups carefully. Mornings and non-event days work best.

Access

Southlake, Westlake, and Ranch Country

Fort Worth suburbs range from gated estates to gravel drives, and each asks something different of a carrier.

Southlake, Westlake, and Colleyville have gated communities with their own truck rules. We need the community name and the gate code.

West of the city, Aledo and Weatherford open into ranch country with long gravel drives and cattle guards. A seventy-five-foot trailer cannot use most of them.

For those, the driver meets you on the farm-to-market road or at a lot in town. Keller, Burleson, and Mansfield are wide grids where the truck reaches the curb.

The TCU area near the university has older, narrower streets. The handoff there usually happens along University Drive.

Seasons

Hail, Ice, and a West Texas Wind

Fort Worth weather is the same as the rest of the metroplex, with a little more wind.

Spring hail can dent a car waiting outside, so we shift the window when a storm is forecast. Winter ice closes the overpasses a few times a season.

Wind out of the west picks up on Interstate 20 and US 287. A high-profile trailer slows down when it gusts.

Texas Christian University sends cars in each August and home each May. Summer heat changes only the loading hour.

Your Options

Open or Enclosed in Fort Worth?

Open transport is the everyday choice, and the freight town runs on it.

Enclosed transport keeps a car covered against hail, dust, and grit. Westover Hills and Southlake keep enclosed carriers busy with collector cars.

A commuter car is well suited to riding open. The two are compared on our open and enclosed pages.

The Basics

How It Works and How to Prepare

It goes like this: a price, then a pickup, then a delivery.

Once the price is agreed, we assign a carrier. At pickup the driver records the car’s condition on a Bill of Lading and you sign. That record is your comparison at delivery.

The how it works and preparation guides go step by step.

Why Ship Guy

Why Fort Worth Drivers Choose Ship Guy

We use the Alliance carrier pool and know which weeks the west side fills up.

Ship Guy’s FMCSA brokerage authority is active and backed by a $75,000 surety bond. Both are on public record.

You have one coordinator from the quote to the delivery. That contact can set up open, enclosed, or expedited shipping. The services page lists every option we offer.

Fort Worth FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is car shipping from Fort Worth often faster than from Dallas?

Because the Alliance logistics hub sits on the north side of the city. Trucking companies cluster around its rail yard and warehouses, and car carriers base there too. A carrier staging at Alliance can reach anywhere in Tarrant County in thirty minutes. That keeps pickups quick and short lanes inexpensive.

Can you ship my second vehicle for a reserve base rotation?

Yes, reservists rotating through the joint reserve base ship second vehicles with us regularly. Base housing is gated, so you meet the driver outside the gate. We line up the pickup with your report date. Ship Guy is an independent broker with no military ties. Our military page has more.

Will the Stock Show affect my pickup?

Near the Cultural District, yes. The show runs more than three weeks each January and February, and west-side traffic doubles. We plan Cultural District pickups for mornings or non-event days. The rest of Fort Worth runs normally. Tell us your dates and we will check the schedule.

Can the carrier get out to my place in Aledo or Weatherford?

Not down a gravel drive with a cattle guard. Ranch country west of the city was not built for a seventy-five-foot trailer. The driver meets you on the farm-to-market road or at a lot in town. Describe the drive when you book and we will plan the handoff.

How much does it cost to ship a car from Fort Worth to Denver?

Usually five hundred fifty to eight hundred dollars for a sedan. US 287 runs straight out of town to Interstate 25, about seven hundred eighty miles. Amarillo sits on the same road and takes a day. Larger vehicles add 10 to 25 percent to the estimate. Get a quote using your dates.

Can the carrier come inside my gated community in Southlake?

It depends on the community. Southlake, Westlake, and Colleyville each set their own rules for large trucks. If the truck cannot get in, the driver meets you at the gate or a lot nearby. Pass along the community name and gate code when booking. Access is confirmed before dispatch.

Do you work with the fighter plant and the airline on relocations?

Yes, aerospace and airline relocations are a steady part of our Fort Worth work. Engineers and crews arrive on program and start dates from across the country. When an employer reimburses the move, we produce the documentation. Open, enclosed, and expedited transport are all available here.

Can you ship a car for a TCU student?

Yes, student cars are a regular August and May run for us. The streets around the university are older and narrower, so the handoff usually happens along University Drive. An adult signs the Bill of Lading. Both months run busy, so plan early.

What about a car that will not start?

Yes, we arrange transport for cars that will not start out of Fort Worth. The carrier brings a winch, and the extra loading time adds a fee. Indicate whether it rolls, steers, and brakes. The truck follows from that.

What do you need for a Fort Worth car shipping quote?

Pickup and delivery addresses first. Year, make, and model second. Whether it runs and rolls. Open or enclosed and a date range. That is the complete list for an accurate Fort Worth quote. Specifics in, a firm number out.
