Nevada
Nevada auto transport is two separate markets. They share a state line with California and nothing much in between.
Ship Guy is a licensed auto transport broker. We book vetted carriers across Nevada, and we do not own the trucks.
Interstate 15 carries Las Vegas to Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Interstate 80 carries Reno to Sacramento and the Utah line. US 95 links the two metros across four hundred fifty miles of desert with almost nothing on it.
This page covers the two corridors, Reno and the California transplants, the Tahoe passes, and the bases. It also covers the mining towns, the retirees in Pahrump and Mesquite, and the city pages.
Most pickups happen within 1 to 3 days in Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, and Carson City. Elko, Ely, and the rural counties run 3 to 6 days.
Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Sacramento are same-day lanes from one metro or the other. Salt Lake City and San Francisco take a day. Texas and the Midwest run three.
Las Vegas and Henderson have their own pages. This page carries Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, and the rest of the state.
Two Corridors
Nevada’s two metros face different directions, and carriers rarely serve both on one trip.
Southern Nevada runs on Interstate 15. Los Angeles is four hours west and Salt Lake City six hours northeast. US 93 reaches Phoenix as the future Interstate 11.
Northern Nevada runs on Interstate 80. Sacramento and the Bay Area sit over Donner Pass to the west. Salt Lake City sits across the desert to the east, through Winnemucca and Elko.
US 95 connects the two across Tonopah and Hawthorne with a hundred miles between gas stations. Carriers use it, but a Las Vegas car headed for Reno usually rides through California instead.
Addresses in the two metros schedule fast. Elko, Ely, Winnemucca, and the rural counties take 3 to 6 days. The carrier detours across empty country to reach them.
City Pages
Las Vegas and Henderson have their own pages with the resort corridor, the convention calendar, and gated-community access. Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Tahoe, and the rest of Nevada are covered from this page.
Reno & Sparks
Reno grew faster this decade than almost any city in the West. Most of the newcomers came over the pass.
Households leaving California for Reno, Sparks, and Carson City keep the Sacramento and Bay Area lanes full. They are the busiest inbound lanes in the north. Most ship one car over the pass and drive the other.
The industrial center east of Sparks holds the battery plant and the data centers. Its employers relocate engineers from across the country on start dates. Corporate packages usually pay for a vehicle.
Reno’s older neighborhoods have narrow streets, and the driver meets you on a main road. The new subdivisions in Spanish Springs and Damonte Ranch outpace carrier maps, so send the full address.
The state university in Reno sends cars in each August and home each May. If your employer reimburses the shipment, we provide the documentation, and the state-to-state page covers the interstate side.
Lanes & Costs
Common lanes out of both metros, with estimated open-transport ranges. Carson City and Tahoe follow Reno lanes, and Pahrump and Mesquite follow Las Vegas. Price your exact route above.

*2026 estimates for a running sedan on an open trailer, priced from the nearer metro. SUVs and pickups add about 10 to 25 percent, with enclosed adding more. Pass closures, event weeks, and carrier availability on your dates set the real quote.
California lanes are the cheapest from both metros, because carriers run Interstate 15 and 80 all day. Phoenix and Salt Lake City follow close behind.
Rural Nevada costs more per mile because the carrier crosses a lot of nothing to reach it. The cost guide explains everything else that moves the price.
Tahoe & the Passes
Everything west of Reno crosses a mountain, and the mountain sets the winter schedule.
Interstate 80 over Donner Pass runs chain controls from November through April. A loaded carrier waits below the control point. US 50 over Echo Summit and Mount Rose Highway close more often.
Lake Tahoe’s Nevada shore, from Incline Village to Stateline, sits on steep, winding roads with resort gates. The driver meets you on the highway or at a lot in Incline or Stateline. Lake deliveries run 2 to 4 days.
Second-home owners ship cars up for ski season in November and for summer in June. Book a few weeks ahead for either window.
Bases & the Rural North
Nevada’s installations sit in the desert, and the mines sit farther out.
The naval air station at Fallon trains strike aircrews an hour east of Reno. It rotates squadrons on training cycles. Nellis and Creech near Las Vegas are covered on the Las Vegas page. The Army depot at Hawthorne rotates civilians.
Many families ship a second vehicle through us, since orders often cover one. Housing is gated, so the handoff takes place outside the gate. Ship Guy is a private broker with no military affiliation. Our military page walks through a PCS move.
Elko and Winnemucca ship on Interstate 80 with the gold mines relocating workers on hiring schedules. Ely sits on US 93 hours from anywhere, and pickups there run 3 to 6 days.
The Retirees & the Desert
Southern Nevada draws retirees to the towns around Las Vegas, and each has its own access story.
Pahrump sits an hour west of Las Vegas over the hump on Highway 160. Its acre lots sit on gravel roads. Mesquite sits on Interstate 15 at the Arizona line with golf communities and gates. Laughlin sits on the river with winter residents.
Summer heat passes 110 degrees from June through September, and drivers load early. The monsoon in July and August brings flash floods to the washes. A driver waits out a downpour.
Retirees from the Northwest and the Midwest arrive each fall on the same seasonal calendar as Arizona. Our snowbird page covers that seasonal lane.
Your Options
Open transport is the everyday choice, and the California lanes run on it.
Enclosed transport keeps a car covered against desert sun, dust, and mountain road salt. Incline Village and the Las Vegas country clubs keep enclosed carriers busy with collector cars and exotics.
A commuter car rides open across the desert without trouble. Our open and enclosed pages lay out the decision.
The Basics
A price, a loading on the nearer corridor, and a delivery. The pass or the heat decides the hour.
When the price is approved, a carrier on Interstate 15 or 80 takes the booking. The driver documents the car’s condition on a Bill of Lading, which you sign at pickup. That document is what the delivery inspection uses.
Our how it works and preparation guides cover each step.
Why Ship Guy
We know which metro your town belongs to, which pass is closed, and which lane runs full.
Ship Guy holds active FMCSA brokerage authority and a $75,000 surety bond, both listed in the federal register.
One coordinator carries the shipment from quote to delivery and can set up open, enclosed, or expedited service. The services page lists each service.
Nevada FAQ
Sacramento to Reno usually runs one hundred eighty to two hundred ninety dollars for a sedan. It is about a hundred thirty miles over Donner Pass. San Francisco runs two hundred thirty to three hundred fifty. Both lanes run full with California transplants, which keeps them competitive. Larger vehicles run 10 to 25 percent more.
Yes, but the two metros are four hundred fifty miles apart across empty desert. US 95 carries the run in about a day, and many carriers route through California instead. It usually costs four hundred to five hundred sixty dollars for a sedan.
Chain controls apply on Interstate 80 from November through April. A loaded carrier waits below them rather than chain up. Closures usually last a day. US 50 and Mount Rose close more often. We tell you when the pass is in play.

Yes, non-running cars ship from every part of Nevada. A winch-equipped carrier loads it, and the added time is a fee. Say whether the car rolls, steers, and brakes on its own.
Both addresses, with the community name for a gated or lake address. The year, make, and model. Whether it runs and rolls. Open or enclosed, and the spread of dates you have. That is a complete Nevada quote request.
