Step 2: Book your spot. Once you approve the quote, we post your car to our carrier network. Remember, you pay nothing at this step. Your card is not charged until a carrier is assigned.

Step 3: Meet the driver. The driver calls you a day ahead to set a time. Together, you walk around the car and note its condition on the Bill of Lading. Take photos too. Then the driver loads the car and heads out.

Step 4: Track the trip. While your car rides, we stay in touch. Plus, you can call or text your dispatcher any day from 6 AM to 11 PM. If anything changes, you hear it from us first.

Step 5: Take delivery. At drop-off, you inspect the car before you sign. Compare it to your pickup photos. If everything looks right, you sign, and the job is done. That is the whole process from start to finish.

The Port of Mobile is one of the busiest ports in the country. In fact, ships here carry vehicles across the ocean. The industry calls this roll-on/roll-off, or RO/RO for short. Cars drive onto the ship at one port. Then they drive off at the next one.

Here is our part, in plain terms. We handle the land side of the trip. If you are exporting, we pick up your car anywhere in the U.S. Then we deliver it to your freight forwarder near the port. Ports only accept cars during set hours, so timing matters. We schedule the drop-off to match their window. Your forwarder books the ship, handles the title papers, and clears customs.

Importing works the same way, just in reverse. Once customs releases your car, we pick it up at the port. After that, we deliver it to any address in the country. One phone call covers the whole land trip.

Hurricane season runs from June through November. Most of those weeks are calm. Still, you deserve to know exactly how we handle a storm.

We watch the forecast all season long. If a storm threatens the Gulf, we call you early. Then you have simple choices. You can move your pickup earlier. You can also push it back until the weather clears. Either way, we work out the dates with you.

Some people ship a car OUT before a storm arrives. That is smart planning. However, trucks fill up fast once a storm has a name. So if you want your car moved ahead of a storm, call right away. Waiting even one day can cost you a spot.

Every winter, the Baldwin County beaches fill up. Visitors from the Midwest and Canada spend the cold months in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Locals call them snowbirds.

Snowbirds ship a lot of cars. Most arrive between October and December. Then they head home in March and April. Those months get busy, so book 2 to 3 weeks ahead.

Every honest quote has two parts. The first part pays the truck driver. The second part pays us for planning the trip. The driver’s share is the bigger one, and it moves with the market.

So what moves the price? Fuel costs, the season, and the route. Busy routes cost less, because many trucks want the load. Quiet routes cost more, because fewer trucks pass that way. A Friday-only pickup on a narrow street also adds cost. Flexible dates almost always save you money.

One warning before you shop around. If a quote is hundreds of dollars below everyone else, be careful. That low number is often bait. The company posts your car at a cheap rate, and no driver takes it. Then your dates slip, or the price jumps at the last minute. We quote the real number the first time. It is better business, and it is more honest.

The Eastern Shore is part of our daily routine. We serve Daphne, Fairhope, and Spanish Fort all the time. One note about big trucks, though. Some neighborhood streets are too tight for a 75-foot hauler. When that happens, we meet you at a wide, safe spot nearby. A grocery store parking lot works great. This is normal in the industry, and it protects your car.

First, wash the car. A clean car makes the inspection easy. Small chips and scratches show clearly, so the Bill of Lading is accurate. That protects you.

Next, take photos. Walk around the car and shoot every side. Include the roof and the odometer. Date-stamped phone photos are perfect. Then keep them until the car arrives.

Then, empty the car. Take out anything valuable. You may leave up to about 100 pounds in the trunk, but the carrier’s insurance does not cover personal items. Also remove toll tags and parking passes, because they can rack up charges on the truck.

Also, check the basics. Leave about a quarter tank of gas. After all, a full tank only adds weight. Likewise, fix or report any leaks before pickup. Fold in the mirrors and remove loose accessories, like bike racks.

Finally, plan the handoff. Have your key ready, plus a spare if you can. Pick a meeting spot with room for a big truck. After that, you are set. From there, the driver handles the rest.
