Fort Myers, Florida

Car shipping for the hub of Southwest Florida

Car shipping in Fort Myers serves the airport, the river, and the islands. It also serves the largest city in the region, across the water.

Ship Guy is a licensed auto transport broker based in South Florida. We book vetted carriers across Lee County, and we do not own the trucks.

Interstate 75 runs along the east side, and the airport sits beside it. The Caloosahatchee splits the metro in two. Where you live decides which bridge the truck takes.

This page covers the airport, the two spring-training camps, and the bridges to Cape Coral. It also covers the islands and their tolls, the unfinished grid of Lehigh, and the evacuation zones.

Fort Myers at a glance

Most pickups happen within 1 to 3 days, with the airport and Interstate 75 anchoring the carrier traffic.

Tampa, Miami, and Sarasota are same-day lanes. Orlando takes about a day. Chicago and Detroit are three-to-four-day runs.

February and March bring two teams and their fans to the ballparks off Daniels Parkway. Tell us your dates and we will check the game schedule.

The Hub

The Airport, Interstate 75, and Fly-and-Ship

Southwest Florida International is the front door for the whole region, and cars follow the passengers.

Seasonal residents and newcomers land and have the car delivered a few days later. The airport sits beside Interstate 75, so deliveries to the east side are quick.

Interstate 75 runs north to Tampa and south to Naples and the Alley. Every carrier working the Gulf Coast passes the airport exit.

An adult greets the driver and signs the form. Give us your flight date and we build the window around it.

Spring Training

Two Teams, Two Ballparks, One Busy Month

Fort Myers hosts two spring-training camps, which few Florida cities can claim.

The Red Sox train off Daniels Parkway near the airport, and the Twins train a few miles west. Game afternoons from February into March clog the roads between them.

A carrier working the airport corridor on a game day loses time. For nearby addresses, we schedule mornings or non-game days.

Some fans ship a car down for the month and skip the rental. Give us a few weeks, because March overlaps with the seasonal return.

Interstate 75 carries nearly everything. Tampa is an hour away, and Detroit is at the far end of the road. The Midwest and Northeast lanes swing with the season.

Florida lanes are quick and inexpensive year round. The cost guide goes through vehicle size, condition, and the rest.

The River

The Caloosahatchee, the Bridges, and Cape Coral

The river runs through the middle of the metro, and three bridges carry carriers across it.

Cape Coral is the largest city in the region, laid out on four hundred miles of canals. Its streets are wide, and the truck usually reaches the curb. The canal grid is easy to get lost in, though.

Send the full address and the nearest main road. The Cape Coral and Midpoint bridges carry carriers across without restriction.

Downtown Fort Myers and the river district have older, narrower streets. The handoff there happens on a main road or at a lot near the bridges.

The Islands

Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach, and Pine Island

The barrier islands are reached by causeways, and each one asks something of a carrier.

Sanibel and Captiva sit across a toll causeway, and the toll is built into the quote. Island streets are narrow under low canopy, so the driver meets you near the causeway.

Fort Myers Beach is reached over a narrow bridge onto a thin island. Beach condos run on garages, and the handoff happens at a lot on the mainland side.

Pine Island and Matlacha are a longer run out and a meeting spot near the bridge. All of the islands sit in the first evacuation zone.

The Grid

Lehigh Acres, Estero, and the Gates

East and south of the city, two very different kinds of neighborhood need two kinds of plan.

Lehigh Acres is an enormous platted grid, and many of its streets are still unpaved or unfinished. A seventy-five-foot trailer stays on the main roads, and the driver meets you there.

Estero and Bonita Springs are gated resort communities. Give us the community name and gate code, and we confirm access before dispatch.

Florida Gulf Coast University sits in Estero and sends cars in each August and home each May. The handoff happens at a lot near the campus entrance.

Storm Season

Evacuation Zones and the Rebuild

Lee County evacuates by zone, and the islands go first.

Zone A covers the barrier islands and the lowest ground along the river. Carriers pull out of the coast days before a landfall. No truck runs onto an island under an evacuation order.

The region has been rebuilding since the 2022 storm. Construction traffic is part of daily life on the islands. Windows there include cushion.

If you need a car out ahead of a storm, call once the forecast firms up. After a storm, demand climbs as residents replace flooded cars.

Your Options

Open or Enclosed in Fort Myers?

Open transport is the everyday choice, and the seasonal Interstate 75 lanes run on it.

Enclosed transport keeps salt air, summer storms, and grit off a car. Sanibel and the Estero communities keep enclosed carriers busy with collector cars.

A commuter car rides open without concern. Each is explained on our open and enclosed pages.

The Basics

How It Works and How to Prepare

Price, pickup, delivery, with the bridges in between.

Once the price is approved, a carrier is booked for the run. At pickup the driver writes up the car’s condition on a Bill of Lading, and you sign it. You check the car against that write-up at delivery.

Our how it works and preparation guides cover each step.

Why Fort Myers Drivers Choose Ship Guy

Fort Myers FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fly into the airport and have the car delivered?

Yes, that is one of the most common Fort Myers requests. The airport sits beside Interstate 75, and east-side deliveries are quick. Delivery is set for the days after your flight lands. An adult greets the driver and signs the form. Give us your flight date and we build the window.

Does spring training affect pickups near the airport?

Near the ballparks off Daniels Parkway, yes. Two teams train here, and game afternoons from February into March fill the roads between them. Nearby pickups get scheduled for mornings or non-game days. The rest of the metro is unaffected by it.

Can the carrier come to my house in Cape Coral?

Usually, yes. Cape Coral streets are wide enough for a trailer. The truck reaches the curb on most of them. The canal grid is easy to get lost in. Send the full address and the nearest main road. The Cape Coral and Midpoint bridges carry carriers across without restriction.

Do you deliver to Sanibel or Fort Myers Beach?

To the causeway or the mainland side, and sometimes onto the island. Sanibel streets run under low canopy, so the driver usually meets you near the toll causeway. The toll is part of the quote. Fort Myers Beach condos run on garages, so the handoff happens at a lot on the mainland side.

Can the carrier reach my street in Lehigh Acres?

Only the paved main roads. Lehigh is an enormous platted grid, and many streets are still unpaved or unfinished. A seventy-five-foot trailer stays on the main roads, and the driver meets you there. Send the full address and we will name the spot.

How much does it cost to ship a car from Fort Myers to Chicago or Detroit?

Both usually run eight hundred twenty to twelve hundred dollars for a sedan. Interstate 75 goes straight to Detroit, about thirteen hundred miles, and Chicago branches off it. Season matters more than distance, and northbound cars in April cost more than in February.

What happens if a hurricane threatens Lee County?

Lee County evacuates by zone, and the islands and the low ground along the river go first. Carriers leave the coast days before landfall, and no truck runs onto an island under an evacuation order. If you want the car out first, call the moment the forecast firms up. Demand stays elevated for a week or two afterward.

Can you ship a car for an FGCU student?

Yes, we move student cars in August and bring them home in May. The campus sits in Estero off Interstate 75, and the handoff happens at a lot near the entrance. An adult signs the paperwork. Both windows get busy, so book early.

Can you ship a car that does not run from Fort Myers?

Yes, cars that do not run ship out of Fort Myers all the time. A winch-equipped carrier does the loading, and the extra time adds a fee. Note whether it rolls, steers, and brakes, and that sets the truck.

What do you need for a Fort Myers car shipping quote?

Kick off with the pickup and delivery addresses. Then add the year, make, and model. State if it runs and rolls. Choose open or enclosed and hand us your dates. That covers an accurate Fort Myers quote. Good details, good price.
