Naples, Florida

Car shipping for the Midwest’s winter capital

Car shipping in Naples follows the deepest seasonal swing in Florida.

Ship Guy is a licensed auto transport broker with South Florida as home. We book vetted carriers across Naples and Collier County, and we do not own the trucks.

The population roughly doubles between December and April. Most of the newcomers come from Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Ohio. They ship the car, and often the second one.

This page covers the season, the gated golf communities, and the collector cars that fill them. It also covers the Alley across the Everglades and the acreage east of town.

Naples at a glance

Most pickups happen within 1 to 3 days, with Interstate 75 and the Alley bringing carriers through.

Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa are same-day lanes. Atlanta takes about two days. Chicago and Detroit take three to four days.

Give us the community name and gate code when you book. Nearly every Naples address west of Collier Boulevard sits behind a gate.

The Season

December to April, and the Midwest Lane

No Florida city changes as much between summer and winter as Naples.

Seasonal residents arrive from the upper Midwest starting in November and peak in January and February. They leave from April into May.

Interstate 75 runs from Naples straight to Detroit and Michigan, and Interstate 65 branches to Chicago. Those lanes carry more seasonal cars than any others into Naples.

Because the volume is so large, the Midwest lanes are easy to book even in peak. In season, two to three weeks of notice keeps the options open.

Planning tips for either direction are on our snowbird page.

The Gates

Golf Communities, Country Clubs, and Collector Cars

Naples has more golf holes per resident than almost anywhere, and most of them sit behind a gate.

Pelican Bay, Grey Oaks, Quail West, Mediterra, and dozens more set their own rules for commercial trucks. Some admit a carrier with a code and a time window. Others hold trucks at the gatehouse.

Where the truck cannot enter, the handoff moves to just outside the gate or a lot nearby. Waterside, Mercato, and the plazas along Pine Ridge Road all work.

Port Royal, Aqualane Shores, and Old Naples are ungated but narrow, with low canopy and tight parking. The handoff there happens on Tamiami Trail or at a lot.

Many of the cars behind those gates are collector pieces and exotics, and enclosed transport is the norm. Our enclosed auto transport page covers the service.

*2026 estimates for a running sedan, open trailer. Larger vehicles add roughly 10 to 25 percent, and enclosed adds more on top. The season swing and carrier availability on your dates set the actual quote, with the Alley toll included.

Interstate 75 north is the workhorse, carrying Atlanta, Ohio, Chicago, and Detroit. The season sets the price more than the miles.

Enclosed transport is common enough here that it deserves its own line in the quote. The cost guide addresses everything else.

The Alley

Alligator Alley, Marco Island, and the East Coast Lanes

The only road east is a toll road across the Everglades, and carriers use it daily.

Interstate 75 crosses the Alley to Fort Lauderdale and Miami in under two hours. The toll is built into every quote.

Marco Island sits south of the city over a bridge. Its condos and canals mean a meeting spot near the bridge approach.

Bonita Springs and Estero to the north are covered on the Fort Myers page. The same team handles both.

The Estates

Golden Gate Estates, Ave Maria, and the Acreage

East of Collier Boulevard, Naples turns into acreage, canals, and dirt roads.

Golden Gate Estates is a grid of long lots on canal-lined streets, many unpaved. A seventy-five-foot trailer stays on Collier Boulevard or Immokalee Road.

Ave Maria is a planned town far inland with its own wide streets. The truck usually reaches the curb there.

For Estates addresses, describe the road when you book. The driver meets you on the nearest paved route.

Storm Season

Hurricanes on the Gulf Side

Naples took a direct hit in 2022, and the city plans around the next one.

Hurricane season spans June through November. Carriers leave the coast days before a landfall, and the beachfront and the island clear out first.

To get a car out ahead of a storm, call the moment the forecast firms up. After a storm, demand surges as residents replace flooded cars.

Season and storm season overlap in the fall. A little extra lead time in October and November is wise.

Your Options

Open or Enclosed in Naples?

Open transport is the everyday choice for a daily driver, and most seasonal sedans ride it.

Enclosed transport is the norm behind the gates. Those cars are worth protecting from salt air, grit, and attention.

Enclosed carriers are busy in Naples all season, so book them early. Our open and enclosed pages compare the two in detail.

The Basics

How It Works and How to Prepare

Three parts: the price, the handoff at the gate, and the delivery.

Approve the price and we assign a carrier to the season run. The driver records the car’s condition on a Bill of Lading, and you sign at the handoff. That record is your checklist at delivery.

The how it works and preparation guides go step by step.

Naples FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the carrier come inside my gated golf community?

It depends on the community. Some admit a carrier with a code and a time window. Others stop commercial trucks at the gatehouse. Where the truck cannot enter, the handoff moves to just outside the gate or a lot nearby. Give us the community name and code when you book. We confirm access before dispatch.

How much does it cost to ship a car from Naples to Chicago or Detroit?

Both usually run eight hundred fifty to twelve hundred dollars for a sedan. Interstate 75 goes straight to Detroit, and Interstate 65 branches to Chicago, about thirteen hundred miles either way. Season matters more than distance. A northbound car in April costs more than one in February. Enclosed transport adds to it.

When should I book my seasonal car?

Two to three weeks ahead, and earlier if your dates are locked. Southbound demand grows from November through January. Northbound demand peaks from April into May. The Midwest lanes are busy enough to book even in peak, but early notice keeps the price steady.

Should my collector car ship enclosed?

Yes, and in Naples most do. An enclosed trailer shields the car from salt air, grit, and attention. A liftgate keeps a low front end off the ramps. Enclosed carriers are busy here all season, so book early. The price is higher than open, and for a car behind the gates it is usually worth it.

Is the Alligator Alley toll added to my price?

It is already built in. Carriers pay the toll to cross the Everglades and price accordingly. Fort Lauderdale and Miami are same-day lanes across the Alley. Interstate 75 north carries no toll.

Can you pick up in Golden Gate Estates?

Not down the canal-lined streets, many of which are unpaved. A seventy-five-foot trailer stays on Collier Boulevard or Immokalee Road. Describe the road when you book, and the driver meets you on the nearest paved route.

Do you deliver to Marco Island?

Yes, over the bridge, with a meeting spot near the approach. Island condos and canal streets are not built for a carrier. It is a few minutes from most addresses on the island. Isles of Capri works the same way.

What happens if a hurricane heads for Naples?

Carriers leave the coast days before landfall, and the beachfront and the island clear out first. Pickups pause until the storm has passed. To get the car out beforehand, call as soon as the forecast firms up. After a storm, demand stays high for a week or two.

Can you ship a car that will not run from Naples?

Yes, we arrange transport for cars that will not run out of Naples. The carrier shows up with a winch, and the slower loading adds a fee. Say whether it rolls, steers, and brakes, and we pick the truck.

What do you need for a Naples car shipping quote?

Both addresses to begin, with the community name. The year, make, and model. Whether it runs and rolls. Open or enclosed, then a date range. That is a full Naples quote request. Precise details, firm number.
