Miami, Florida
Car shipping in Miami is defined by one route more than any other: Interstate 95 to New York.
Ship Guy is a licensed auto transport broker. We book vetted carriers across Miami-Dade, and we do not own trucks or ships.
Every fall, cars pour south from the Northeast for the season. Every spring, they head back. That volume makes the lane fast and competitive.
This page covers the New York lane, hurricane season, and the causeways and towers that complicate pickups. It also answers the port question every Miami shipper asks.
Most pickups happen within 1 to 3 days, longer in peak season if your dates are rigid.
Orlando and Tampa are same-day lanes. Atlanta takes a day or two. New York runs three to four.
Season runs November through April. Book two to three weeks ahead for a southbound car in fall or a northbound car in spring.
The Big Lane
No long-distance lane on the East Coast moves more cars than Miami to New York.
Interstate 95 runs the whole way, roughly thirteen hundred miles. Snowbirds, relocations, and dealer transfers all ride it.
Southbound demand peaks from October through December. Northbound demand peaks from April through June.
Because so many carriers work the corridor, pricing stays competitive despite the distance. Off-season, it can be one of the better values in the country.
Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington ride the same road. Our snowbird page has seasonal planning tips.

*2026 estimates for a running sedan on an open trailer. SUVs and trucks run about 10 to 25 percent more, and enclosed more than that. Season and live carrier availability on your dates set the real quote.
Season swings these numbers more than distance does. A southbound car in November costs more than the same car in July.
Enclosed transport for a high-value car adds to any lane. The other variables are in the cost guide.
Storm Season
Hurricane season runs June through November, and Miami takes it seriously.
Most of that window passes quietly. Still, when a storm is forecast, carriers leave South Florida days ahead of landfall.
Pickups pause until the storm clears and the roads reopen. Afterward, demand jumps as people move cars and replace flooded ones.
If you need a car out before a storm, call the moment the forecast firms up. Otherwise, waiting a few days after it passes usually costs less.
Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, and the coastal evacuation zones are the first to clear out. We keep you updated and never send a driver into a storm.
Access
Miami geography puts several obstacles between a carrier and your parking spot.
Miami Beach is reached by causeway. The Venetian has weight limits that keep a loaded carrier off. Drivers use the MacArthur or the Julia Tuttle instead.
Brickell, downtown, and the Beach are full of condo towers with valet and underground garages. A carrier cannot enter, so the driver meets you at a surface lot nearby.
Coral Gables, Pinecrest, and Doral have gated communities with their own truck rules. Share the community name and gate code when you book.
Key Biscayne is reached over the Rickenbacker Causeway, which carriers can use. Kendall, Hialeah, and the suburbs are flat and wide, and the truck usually reaches the curb.
Enclosed
Miami has one of the densest concentrations of exotic cars in the country.
Miami Beach, Brickell, Coral Gables, and the island neighborhoods keep enclosed carriers busy year round. Many of those cars travel between Miami and New York with their owners.
An enclosed trailer shields the car from salt air, road grit, and attention. Liftgate loading protects a low front end.
Our enclosed auto transport page explains the service in full.
The Port
Miami is the export gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, and people ask about it constantly.
Shipping a car overseas through Port Miami is an international process with customs paperwork and an ocean carrier. We do not arrange that leg.
What we do is domestic. We can move a car from anywhere in the country to Miami, or from Miami to any state.
If your car arrived from abroad and has been released, we ship it domestically like any other. Give us the release date and location.
Miami International Airport brings relocations from Latin America and the Northeast alike. Our state-to-state page covers those moves.
Who Ships Here
Beyond the New York lane, Miami moves look like the rest of a large metro.
The University of Miami and Florida International University send cars in each August and home each May.
Homestead Air Reserve Base moves reserve personnel on orders at the south end of the county. Ship Guy is a private broker and has no military ties.
Doral, Kendall, and Cutler Bay add everyday family and relocation moves. Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Naples, Fort Myers, and Key West each have their own pages.
Your Options
Open transport is the everyday choice, and most seasonal cars ride it up and down the coast.
Enclosed transport keeps a car covered against salt air, summer downpours, and grit. It is the standard for exotics and anything a collector owns.
A daily driver does fine on an open trailer. Both are spelled out on our open and enclosed pages.
The Basics
Quote first, then pickup, then delivery, in that order.
After you approve the price, we assign a carrier. At pickup, the driver fills out a Bill of Lading with the car’s condition and you sign. That document is what you inspect against when the car arrives.
The how it works and preparation guides cover every step.
Why Ship Guy
We know the season, the storms, and which causeway a loaded truck can use.
Ship Guy holds active FMCSA brokerage authority backed by a $75,000 surety bond. Both are public and easy to confirm.
A single coordinator stays with your shipment from quote to delivery. Open, enclosed, and expedited transport all come through that one contact. The services page lists each option.

Miami FAQ
Usually eight hundred to eleven hundred fifty dollars for a sedan on an open trailer. The lane runs about thirteen hundred miles up Interstate 95. Heavy volume keeps it competitive despite the distance. Season matters more than distance here. A northbound car in May costs more than the same car in February. Enclosed transport and larger vehicles add to the price.
About three to four days on Interstate 95. Driver hour limits, weather along the coast, and other stops on the trailer shape the window. We give an honest window and never a fake clock time. Boston runs about four days, and Washington two to three. We keep you updated as the car heads north.
Carriers leave South Florida days before landfall, so pickups pause. Once the storm clears and roads reopen, shipping resumes. Demand jumps afterward as people move and replace cars. If you need a car out beforehand, call the moment the forecast firms up. Waiting a few days after the storm usually costs less. We never send a driver into a storm.
At a surface lot nearby. A car carrier cannot enter a valet lane or an underground garage. The driver names a wide lot or street a few minutes from your building. For the Beach, drivers use the MacArthur or Julia Tuttle causeway. Tell us your building and we will pick the spot before dispatch.
No, the Venetian has weight limits that keep a loaded carrier off. Drivers reach Miami Beach over the MacArthur or the Julia Tuttle instead. The difference is a few minutes. Key Biscayne is reached over the Rickenbacker, which carriers can use. Delivery on the islands works, just with a nearby meeting spot.
Yes, for any car you would hate to see scratched. An enclosed trailer keeps out salt air, grit, and curious eyes. Liftgate loading protects a low front end. Miami keeps enclosed carriers busy year round, especially on the New York lane. It runs above open transport in price. For a collector car, the protection is worth it.
No, the overseas leg is an international process we do not arrange. It involves customs paperwork and an ocean carrier. What we do is domestic. We can bring a car to Miami from anywhere in the country or send one to any state. If your car arrived from abroad and has been released, we ship it domestically from there.
Two to three weeks ahead, and earlier if your dates are rigid. Southbound demand builds from October through December. Northbound demand peaks from April through June. Early booking widens your carrier options and steadies the price. Flexible dates help even more. Our snowbird page has seasonal planning tips.
Yes, we ship cars that do not run out of Miami regularly. A winch-equipped carrier does the loading, which takes longer and adds a fee. Tell us whether it rolls, steers, and brakes. The carrier assignment follows from that.
First, the pickup and delivery addresses. Second, the year, make, and model. Third, whether the car runs and rolls. Then open or enclosed and your date range. That is what an accurate Miami quote needs. Exact details give an exact number.
